Tivolio, food and olive oil festival in the City of Art from 9 to 10 April

Tivolio is coming, a week dedicated to the production of quality oil and the Mediterranean olive tree. Thematic meetings, workshops, exhibitions, concerts, guided tours to discover the territory and markets of the earth will animate the entire City of Art on Saturday and Sunday 9 and 10 April 2022. The appointment is at the Sanctuary of Ercole Vincitore (in via degli Stabilimenti 5), in the Villas and in the main squares. Tivolio is the oilgastronomic festival wanted and organized since 2017 by the independent institute Villa Adriana and Villa d’Este. The event, with the collaboration of the Municipality, is part of the Tivoli Christmas calendar. Slow Food was also involved, with the patronage of the Ministry of Agricultural Policies and Arsial.

The oil of the Emperor Hadrian and the “Tiburtine landscapes”

On Saturday, from 9 to 11 the guides of Coopculture and the environmental guide of Slow Food Lazio Valeria Zannoni propose a two-hour walk among the centuries-old olive groves of Villa Adriana among archaeological heritage, olive values and biodiversity. The earth market and the oil shop

From 10 to 17.30 at the Sanctuary of Ercole Vincitore the Earth Market: there are the producers of the Archeomercato, of Slow Food Tivoli and Valle dell’Aniene, of the Lazio Earth Markets, together with the producers of oil from the region and Tiburtini, Presidia and the “Arca del Gusto”. At 10.30 at the Sanctuary of Hercules Winner archaeological exhibition “The gifts of Athena” with guided tour. And from 11 to 17 Oleoteca: guided tastings by a large representation of the regional oil production present in the “Guide to Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2022” of Slow Food Italy. At 11.00 in the Sala Mecenate “Oil that nourishes, elixir of life”: by Ines Innocentini and Caterina Bilotta healthy snack and sensory experience with reading labels, for children and teenagers.

Olive growing in Lazio and awards

On Saturday from 11.30 to 13.30 at the Antiquariun of the Sanctuary of Ercole Vincitore the meeting “Olive growing in Lazio: a treasure of biodiversity with ancient roots” will be held. At the end, the Slow Food Italia 2022 awards and certificates of participation in Tivolio 2022 will be delivered to the producers of Lazio. From 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm in the Sala Mecenate “Oil in the kitchen”: live cooking with tastings for the public in collaboration with Tivoli Forma, TuChef Cooking School in Rome and the Slow Food Community of Chef Trainers for biodiversity in Lazio, with products from the Earth Market and extra virgin olive oils.

Tales of excellence

The spokespersons of the communities of the Slow Food Presidia and Arca del Gusto products will talk about the Arsoli bean, the Valle Pietra bean, ju salavaticu from Roviano, the donuts from Vicovaro, Cineto, Sambuci San Vito Romano and Gallicano, the tozzotto from San Michele, the giglietto of Palestrina and Castel San Pietro Romano, the mosciarelle of Capranica Prenestina.

Oleotourism

Attracting visitors to the territories through concrete proposals for sustainable tourism with green gold at the center. It is oil tourism that will be discussed in a meeting scheduled at 4 pm in the Antiquarium Room of the sanctuary of Ercole Vincitore entitled “Oil tourism: traveling to discover authentic territories and products”. Guided tours in the historic center of Tivoli

Both Saturday and Sunday from 10 to 16 Coopculture’s tourist guides are scheduled from the historic center of Tivoli to the Sanctuary of Ercole Vincitore. Duration of the tour: about two hours. Maximum 25 people for each visit.

In the restaurants “Oil landscapes on the plate”

In the local restaurants involved, adoption of a Tivolio Charter and extra virgin olive oil kits, provided by Slow Food Lazio. Presence in the menu of an exclusive recipe where local Evo oil is the protagonist as an ingredient and not as a mere condiment, to represent the link between biodiversity, locality, taste and cooking technique.

Excursion along the Aniene river

Sunday, starting at 8:30 am, excursion “Cammino dell’Aniene – Green-Way” from Castel Madama (piazza Garibaldi), along the Aniene river, to the Sanctuary of Ercole Vincitore (arrival at about 12.30), by of Amici dei Monti Ruffi and Alp Prenestina Alliance.

The shuttle and the parking

To facilitate the connection between the historic center of Tivoli and the Sanctuary of Ercole Vincitore on the days of 9 and 10 April, free electric shuttles offered by Exelentia Srl – Italian Mobility Factory and ordinary ticketed city buses (Cat).
